Nestled in rows of blooming golden shower trees and Taiwan’s indigenous flamegold rain trees swaying in the gentle breeze, majestic castle spires rise up amidst the rolling hills to produce a dreamlike vista, luring travelers into a fairy tale journey complete with hot springs and laughter. Let the memories begin!
The Grand Cosmos Resort Ruisui, Hualien is located on a 20,000-ping property in Hualien County, and is Cosmos Hotels & Resorts’ latest vacation hotspot. It is the first hotel in Taiwan that offers accommodation choices of luxury villas, a hot spring water park, and an internationally renowned spa all in one complex. The hotel is designed in southern European cottage style, and is set in the beautify Hualien region with rich cultural characteristics and spectacular natural beauty.
The Grand Cosmos Resort Ruisui, Hualien focuses on the hotel theme of a hot spring garden. The hot springs in Ruisui Towhship were discovered in 1909 and developed into public bath houses during Japanese rule. It was one of the 3 major hot springs on the island’s eastern ridge, along with the famous Hong-Yie hot spring and An-Tong hot spring. The water’s quality is similar to one of three Japanese ancient hot springs “Arima Onsen”, rich in iron element, turning light yellow when exposed to air, therefore it is nicknamed “Golden Spring” or “Son-bearing Spring”.
The Grand Cosmos Resort Ruisui, Hualien pipes the golden hot spring from underground directly up to guest rooms and the outdoor hot spring pools in the Water Park. One thing about Ruisui hot spring is that the iron-rich water oxidizes when exposed to air after a while, and the crystallized sediments floating on the surface resemble blossoming flowers that await the immersion of travelers.
The unique castle design of the Grand Cosmos Resort Ruisui, Hualien is a collaboration among renowned designers, top-notch architectural teams, Lasvit Chandeliers, and the multi-award winning Taipei Basic Design Center. The lobby atrium has a 27-meter high ceiling, the tallest among hotels in Taiwan, where the luxurious ‘Golden Ribbon’ chandelier from Lasvit commands the center of attention. Flown in directly from the Czech Republic, each piece of Austrian crystal is delicately assembled to produce gem-like radiance in a masterpiece of art and beauty.
